The focus will be on dynamic simulation and modeling techniques for incorporating uncertainty and evaluating the risk and reliability of water resources.

We will use GoldSim software during the class to facilitate learning the concepts. Through hands-on examples, you will practice building your own water management model with a custom user interface, data input, model functions, and result processing for evaluating climate uncertainty and its impact on water quality and quantity of a typical water system. In addition, you will be introduced to scenario analysis, optimization, and results post-processing.

If you are new to GoldSim, we recommend that you become familiar with it by working through GoldSim’s free online course.

Workshop Topics

8–8:30 AM: Setup

8:30–10 AM: Intro to dynamic simulation and GoldSim

10 AM–12 PM: Building a simple water management model

12–1 PM: Lunch included with registration

1–2 PM: Water management control logic

2–3 PM: User interface and results

3–4 PM: Incorporating uncertainty / simulating risk

4–5 PM: Scenarios and post processing

Requirements

Laptop with Windows 10 or later, MS Office 365

Mouse and power cord

GoldSim evaluation license (provided 1 week prior to workshop)

Instructor: Jason Lillywhite

Jason Lillywhite has been using GoldSim since 2005 on consulting projects around the world, and he has worked for GoldSim Technology Group since 2010.
